OUR STORY

Candescent Films supports documentaries and films that illuminate social issues. Lilly Hartley founded Candescent in 2010 to champion actors and filmmakers committed to raising awareness through compelling character-driven stories. In partnership with Sundance Institute and Tribeca Film Institute, Lilly created the Candescent Award.

OUR FOUNDER

Lilly Hartley launched Candescent Films in 2010, combining her passion for film and her desire to make a positive difference in the world. Lilly received a Goya Award, Spain’s Oscar equivalent, with Javier Bardem. She is an Executive Producer of The Queen of Versailles, Spirt Award nominee The Departure, and Emmy Award nominated Private Violence. She produced the Webby nominated short film starring Elle Fanning, Likeness. She is an Executive Producer of Sundance Film Festival hits such as Trophy, Generation Wealth, and Who is Dayani Cristal? starring Gael Garcia Bernal. Lilly executive produced critically acclaimed, The Kingmaker, the only documentary to have ever premiered at Venice, Telluride and Toronto.

Lilly’s many supported films include Academy Award Shortlisted Charm City, Art and Craft, 3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets, and Academy Award Nominated Cartel Land.  Lilly supported Emmy Award winning Solitary and Spirit Award nominees After Tiller, Gideon's Army. 

Lilly is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and Producers Guild of America, and was named to Marie Claire's New Guard List of the "50 Most Connected Women in America." Lilly is proud to be on the Advisory Board of the Hamptons International Film Festival.
